Ultimately, I believe humans have been telling real stories to each other since we've been grunting in loincloths around a campfire.
Further, for the past 100 years we've gathered in front of some kind of a box (be it square, rectangle, phone shaped) for other human's stories to be told to us.
I'm definitely naive to say this and I'll probably really regret saying it, but the disruption AI will cause me as a filmmaker is something I actually feel confident about. Disrupt my work?! Try being a freelance filmmaker - absolute chaos, always, without fail, there's enough to worry about already. You're a person that consumes AI slop as your main entertainment, as your main access to culture and inspiration? No thanks! I pass on you pal!
Our humanity, taste, intelligence will still be a core element of who we are after whatever revolution AI brings.
If this isn't the case, well, then, as the kids say: we're already cooked. There's no reason to go down that hole.
I was talking to a colleague and great friend today about a couple things AI related, especially as I'm watching the news in a slow branded content market. In which: Hire me yo!
Let's start here:

Dario Amodei, who is probably the most safety-focused CEO in the AI industry, has publicly predicted that AI will eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within one to five years. And many people in the industry think he's being conservative. Given what the latest models can do, the capability for massive disruption could be here by the end of this year. It'll take some time to ripple through the economy, but the underlying ability is arriving now.
Ominous! Disastrous! Potentially true but based on a big bet says Ed Zitron, British AI critic that's following the money:
I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier reading anything on the show. Something about seeing this really got to me, it’s shown how many people are misinformed and, worse still, how many more are willing to emphatically agree and endorse nonsensical misinformation. A moment of shame for all involved.

This podcast is almost unlistenable he's so pissed. Ed's done a great job talking about the ridiculous financials of AI and if you're ever dooming about how robots are taking over the world - Ed is a good counter-weight.

An aside: I hate youtube thumbnails
This is why I'm confident. Nothing is certain, no thing is inevitable. Matt and Ed make great points on both sides of the spectrum, but we still determine our own fate (to an extent, you know what I mean).
Altman, Musk, Zuck, whether they like it or not, are all prey to the same universe and humanity we all are.
Good luck out there, until next time!
Some small thoughts on AI, today
These thoughts and opinions will change as the world changes, and oh baby, the times they are a changin'
